Memories of Former Days

你有过一个铁哥们，玩耍，嬉戏打闹了三年

You’ve had a faithful friend, who is your roommate and sleeps next to you, 

睡在你的上铺

Spending time hanging out together in the past days.

几年后，或许寒暄仍在，还会讲几句电话

Year by year, though you would text from time to time,

但你却不得不接受这么一个现实

You have to admit that,

那条河，岁月的河，一直在流，流的越来越快

The river of time is flowing swiftly that we can barely catch up.

冲洗过后的滩上，躺着的再也不是原来的沙粒

Nothing is the same as before.

你有过喜欢的人，

You’ve admired someone.

或在暗中恋慕憧憬过；

亦或有过青涩的浪漫

Sometimes love is romantic, sometimes love is unrequited.

几年后，谁又会知道呢

No one ever knows what will happen as time goes by.

你牵过的手戴上了异国男子送的戒指

Once the girl you were hand-in-hand with, is now engaged with someone you’ll never know.

你倚靠过的胸膛里，再也没有当年你留下的那根发

Once the shoulder you used to lean against, is now relied on by someone else. 

临别前的最后一句话，

The last couples of words you said just before parting,

依然是那句当年坚定的誓言，

Was the pledge you made years ago.

我要永远跟你在一起吗

Does love stay forever?

也不知是谁先开了口，说了句，一切随风吧

You could hardly recall who said, “We are done.”

最后的凝视有残留的眷恋,却再也不会有回眸了

It was the last time you fixed your gaze on each other.

毕业典礼上的演讲似乎冗长，

The speeches on graduation ceremony seemed long and tedious.

你第一次, 只是静下心来, 聆听每个人嘴中的每个字

For the first time, you listened every single word and phrase carefully.

有人也时不时望望墙上的钟, 你偶尔也会瞥一下自己的手

People looked up to the clock on the wall frequently,

想抓住倒计时工具上变换的数字

Trying to catch up with the numbers on the timer.

这一刻，你只想让一切，慢点，再慢点

At this moment, your only wish was to slow the entire world down.   

结束了，你跟几个朋友聊的正起劲

When the thing you left over crossed your mind,

突然想起来自己好像落了点东西

Which was the yearbook with all your friends’ wishes on it, 

那个写满同学祝福的笔记本还在教学楼呢

You’re talking with several friends.

你刚要踏出大门，却见到了那个你再熟悉不过的身影

You saw the figure which you could not be any more familiar with.

只见她将笔记本传到了你手上

She passed the yearbook to you,

没等你说谢谢，言了句“保重”,转身走了

said, ” Take care of yourself.” Then left.

你跟她为小事争执过，她为你操劳担忧过

You argued with her for many times. 

在教师节那天，你一句简单的“节日快乐”，她满脸温暖的笑容

“Happy Teacher’s Day” could make her joy immense.

烦恼时，就算你一句都没听进去，她总不忘给几句开导

When you were anxious, she would never forget to straighten you out.

物品丢失时，她再忙也会帮你找寻，就像一直在探寻你一样

She would always be here for you although she had a lot of things to do.

她，她们，总想更多的去了解你

She wanted to learn more about you.

望着她远去的背影，你大喊一声：“老师，幸苦了！”

You shouted out,” Teacher, thanks for what you’ve done for me.”

老师回过头来，泪再次落下，那擦干又湿的眼眶

Tears came out of your eyes when she finally looked back.

行李都打包好了，那沉重的背包能否再塞下一本中文书

Packed up all the luggage, you wondered if there’s any space to place a Chinese book.

出国前一天的晚上，妈妈给你熬了碗汤，

Mom cooked soup for you before that very day.

你，一口喝尽见底的，还有自己滴下的泪

You could even see the tears.

妈妈一头染了又白的发，

The many sorrows turned mom’s hair white.

爸爸，只是弯着自己不再挺拔的腰

Dad was not as strong as before.

 “儿子，”你听到那沙哑的声音赶忙转过头

“Son”, he went on.

只见爸爸手里拿着的是一张你毕业的合照

“不占位置就带着吧。”

If there’s any room for it, just take it.

那往昔会停留几何？

How long does it take to look back to the former days?

你仍在苦苦思索着，

You still haven’t figure it out.

无奈，你不晓得未来

Unfortunately, you know nothing about the future.

奇怪，你却也不再踌躇了

But you don’t hesitate anymore.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       

睁开眼，只回答了两个字

“永远”。
