世界那么大,枫叶带你看

   琵琶满园香,农场采摘忙,5月20日,武汉枫叶学校小学校区月度交流会议在阶梯教室如期举行。本次交流会由英语组承办,外教组织,旨在带领老师们领略8个国家的风土情貌,品尝风味小食,带来一次不一样的生活体验。与其说这是一场交流会,不如说这是一场“旅行”。


   首站“旅行团”来到了加拿大,外教Kevin向“游客们”着重介绍了加拿大华人的历史,他说道:两百多年前,中国人千辛万苦,来到加拿大帮助修建铁路,而在这过程中很多人不幸牺牲。在加拿大,这段历史往往被提起,加籍华人对中国人和中国也有较高的崇意。


   下一站“旅行团”来到了澳大利亚,外教Dalham先用澳式英语教各位老师打招呼,随即以图片的形式简要地展示了澳大利亚的运动项目、原始武器、艺术作品等。


   第三站“旅行团”来到了弗吉尼亚州,据外教Sergio介绍:弗吉尼亚位于美国东部大西洋沿岸,是美国最初的13州之一,也是他的家乡。州花是山茱萸,州鸟是北美红雀。


   第四站Jackie老师向“旅行”者介绍了菲律宾的风土风情,并教授了用菲律宾语表达我爱你-mahal kita。


   第五站抵达了香港,Rosanna先让老师们完成了一份香港知识小百科题目,随后图文并茂地介绍了香港的标志性建筑、港口、市花,钱币面额、法定假日等方面的知识。


   第六站是备受欢迎的“美食站”,在站里,“旅行”者可以随意品尝来自8个不同国家不同地区的地道美食,如:加拿大的松饼、美国的华夫饼、澳大利亚的三明治、南非秘制沙拉酱……


   品尝了美食之后,第七站来到了印度,外教Sheetal介绍了印度“你好”的说法,并对大家进行问候仪式,随后又介绍了印度厨房必备的香料盒子,并邀请了爱吃辣的自愿者进行辣椒挑战赛。


   第八站是大家熟知的英国,外教Tom热情地邀请老师们品尝松子酒。

   最后一站老师们来到了位于南半球的南非,据外教介绍南非不仅风景优美,而且历史较悠久,五大神兽闻名遐迩。

   结束了美妙的环球旅行,徐校长总结说,此次月度交流很有意思,能给我们的课堂带来灵感,让学生感兴趣的课堂才是受学生欢迎的课堂!


 

Travel around the world with Maple Leafers

   On May 20th the monthly conference was held by ESL center in WMLES, and all the English teachers led us an extraordinary experience. Kevin highlighted the Chinese Canadian history in Canada. And let the teachers know about the significant contribution early Chinese settlers had in the building of Canada as a country.

   Then all of us came to Australiathe foreign teacher Dalham firstly greeted to those travelers with Australian Englishand then he presented Australia on sportsweapons and artworks by using pictures

   The third stop was Virginia, it is one of the oldest state in America, and also the hometown of Sergio, the State flower is dogwood and state bird is Northern Cardinal, it helps us to that there are far more famous cities than NYC and Hawaii

   Then we came to the Philippines, Jackie taught us how to say the language there, and the way they show love is to say mahal kita

   Rosanna comes from Hong Kong. At first she let other teachers finish a copy of quiz about Hong Kong. Then she introduced the most famous buildings, Victoria harbors, the city flower, every kind of coins and some other parts of Hong Kong. The winner group got some traditional snacks.

In food area, we prepared eight different cuisines from eight countries for the teachers, such as Canadian muffins, American waffles, Australian sandwiches, secret salad sauce in South Africa,  and the most popular curry fish balls. All the teachers enjoyed the food.

   Sheetal taught us the greeting “Namaste” to show welcome in India. Indian food is famous for its spices. Every Indian kitchen has 4 main ingredients – ginger, garlic, chilies and spices. These are typically used in Indian food dishes. Finally there was a chili challenge.

   Teacher Tom bought us a drink –gin which tasted really good.

   Finally we arrived at South Africa, where is beautiful, and with all wild animals.

   After the traveling, we went back to the multimedia room and had a quiz, then, the principal gave us a summary about how we can get inspirations from this meeting.
