We are glad to present today the winners of the Waterloo math contest. Mathematics competition such as the Waterloo math contest are a beautiful way to learn to appreciate the beauty of mathematics. These events are conceived to promote the enjoyment of learning to solve problems. Today, we recognize excellence in this field. These students have demonstrated that they had the imagination and creativity to find solution to complicated problems that are outside the scope of what we teach in school. They have shown that they have the ability to improvise and to use their logic, intuition and knowledge to work out solution to problems they had never seen before. This real-life skill is something precious that must be celebrated and promoted. We are glad to have students who were able to achieve such a high level in this field.
今天我们很高兴有机会为滑铁卢数学竞赛的获奖者颁奖。像滑铁卢数学竞赛这样的数学竞赛是欣赏数学之美的一个很好途径。此类赛事旨在将学习的乐趣升华到解决问题层面。今天我们将为在这个方面表现优秀的同学颁奖。这些学生向我们展示了解决课堂之外复杂问题所需具备的想象力和创造力，展现了他们的即兴创作能力和利用自己的逻辑思维、直觉和知识解决从未接触过的问题的能力。这种实际生活技能非常宝贵，值得提倡和歌颂。很高兴我们的学生在此领域取得如此优异的成绩。

We are also glad to recognize the achievement of the top students in our school. The following students have the distinction of being among the first few percent of participants:

A special mention goes to Yang, Zilong Taber, who is the grade 11 student who has achieve the highest score in the grade 12 contest. Taber is in the first 10% for grade 12 students in Canada.
尤其要提到的是高二年级杨子龙同学，取得高三年级比赛最高分，名列加拿大高三年级组前10%。
Finally, we are glad to announce the school winners of the competition. 最后，很荣幸宣布数学竞赛第一名的获得者，他们是：
For grade 12, Qian, Qixin Lily. For grade 11, Xintong Li. And for grade 10, Astoria Xie.

All 3 of these students have shown an incredible potential for logic, deduction and for thinking outside the box. We salute their success and wish them a beautiful career.
