   What do you think about when you hear the phrase “parents meeting”? Do parent meetings mean “secret conversations” between teachers and parents? For students, the only thing they can do is wait and guess about their teachers’ comments.

   说起家长会，大家能联想到什么呢？是不是一场老师与家长之间的一场“秘密对话”，学生们只能在门外等待，紧张的揣测着家长与老师谈话以及对自己的评价呢？

  While in MLFNS-Wuhan, students are no longer simply the audience of the parent meeting, instead, they are now the leaders of the meeting. These are called “student-led conferences”.

   然而，在武汉枫叶外籍人员子女学校，学生不再是家长会的旁观者，相反，他们成为了家长会的主导者，这就是外校举办的新形式“学生主导的家长会议”。

What is a Student-Led Conference?

A student-led conference is a pre-planned meeting in which students demonstrate responsibility for their learning and growth by providing a review of their work for parents. The students lead the conference by presenting work samples that they are proud of and discussing their learning, as well as their progress towards meeting their educational goals.

什么是学生领导的家长会议？

学生主导的家长会是学生证明他们对自己学习和成长的责任感和使命感的会议，会议主要通过学生向家长展示他们在校学习成果的形式展开。学生会将他们引以为傲的学习作品向家长展示，也会在会上跟家长讨论他们在校学习情况及学习进展等。

How is a Student-Led Conference different from a Parent-Teacher Conference?

Students participate in all stages of the conference. They prepare and organize work samples, use checklists to demonstrate new learning, and plan next steps. Students lead the conversation to show what they have learned. This is essentially a Parent-Student Conference, instead of a Parent-Teacher Conference. The students receive feedback from their parents about strengths and goals for improvement.

学生主导的家长会与平常的家长会有什么区别呢？

学生主导的家长会学生全程参与。他们会提前准备他们的学习作品，用列表的形式展示他们学到的新知识，及他们未来的学习计划。学生主导会议目的就是展示他们在校所学。在会议结尾，学生会收到家长关于他们的优势及需要提高的地方的建议。

Our FNS offers the opportunity for parents to discuss school with their children during the Student-Led conferences . We hope parents participate as active listeners and as advocates for their child. Students will not be discussing their report card grades – but instead, they will be highlighting the work they are proud of, and how they are growing as individuals at the FNS.
