Educational Background: Bachelor of Arts Double Major Political Science and History from Simon Fraser University and a Bachelor of Education from the University of British Columbia.

Peter grew up competing in Track & Field events as well as a variety of other sports in the small British Columbia coastal town of Powell River. Always having a sense of adventure, Peter decided to join the amazing teaching staff at MLIS-Wuhan in order to teach the even more amazing MLIS-Wuhan students. Over the past 10 years, Peter has fallen in love with teaching students at Wuhan and adventures which come with living in China. As a result, Peter has return for his 10th year and his first year as BC Vice-Principal. Peter is extremely happy to be again teaching PE classes and playing with the students under the hot Wuhan sun or in the cold Wuhan rain.  Peter will be coaching the Girls’ basketball team in their quest to defeat the Dalian and Tianjin teams. He is also looking forward to helping to guide grade 12 students to academic success and hunting Waimai at the North gate.  Peter wishes all Maple Leafers a successful year filled with hard work, happiness, fun and smiles!

Personal Curriculum Perspective
I’m excited about the direction that the new BC Curriculum is moving towards in education.  Students are now developing their skills through learning plans which allows for students to develop and explore their interests. As a Physical Education teacher, I feel that the Core Competencies will encourage and allow students to develop life- long healthy life styles.  In the context of teaching in China, competencies such as self-determination and regulation are areas in which students struggle. I believe using learning map assessments will help develop these areas which will be key to student success once they go abroad. By allowing students to develop and explore interests will increase chances that students will remain active once they leave high school which will contribute to their overall well-being.
