Dumpling Making at the FNS Builds Our Community

包饺子是中国的传统文化习俗，它早已成为中国人逢年过节和朋友家人相聚团圆不可缺少的活动。在新年到来之际，为了让孩子们更好地了解和感受中华文化，12月15日上午，武汉枫叶外籍人员子女学校中外学生家长老师齐聚一堂，在学校食堂举行了一场全校范围的趣味包饺子活动。

Dumplings are one of the most popular foods in China, and it has become a symbol of Chinese culture. As the New Year of 2018 is around the corner, MLFNS-W held a dumpling-making contest on December 15th. It was really a good chance to help international students learn more about Chinese culture.

一大早，十多名家长志愿者便早早来到学校，积极参与到活动的准备工作中来。活动开始，每组学生在家长和老师的指导下学习如何包饺子。大家互相帮助，沉浸在包饺子的热闹氛围中。学会了如何制作传统的饺子后，同学们还充分发挥自己的想象力，制作了不少极具创意的饺子。

Early in the morning, more than ten parent volunteers arrived at the school and started to prepare for the activity. At the very beginning, students were distributed to different groups with different parents and teachers. Students started to learn how to make dumplings with the help of parents and their peers. It was interesting that students made many “creative” ones using their imagination.

本次活动还设置了体验区，同学们在这里体验了如何和面和擀皮儿。
Moreover, we prepared a special zone for students to try and experience dough-making.
此次活动评一共评选出了最佳造型奖六名，最具创意奖六名和最佳小组合作奖两组，获奖的同学们还拿到了一些小奖品作为鼓励。午饭时间，一碗碗热腾腾的饺子也相继出锅了。吃着自己亲手包的饺子，是不是别有一番风味呢？

Finally, it came to the most exciting part – a dumpling contest. Students were rewarded with many gifts due to their outstanding work. Also, the home-made dumplings became part of students’ lunch. It is really a great experience for parents and students.
