Pizza! Pizza! Come get your pizza!

 披萨！披萨！来拿你的披萨啦！

   On this bright, beautiful autumn day in Wuhan, MLFNS-W organized a Pizza Lunch Fundraiser for all Maple Leaf students to enjoy. It started in the morning at the FNS with Mr. Ristovski’s Grade 7 – 9 class. The students excitedly worked on making pepperoni and cheese pizzas from basic ingredients. Using the skills that they have learned in Home Economics class, and with a lot of  hard work, dedication and positive attitudes, the students were able to make delicious pizzas to sell.

    在这个阳光明媚，秋高气爽的大武汉，我们枫叶外籍子女学校在校园内组织了一次“披萨筹款的募捐活动”，所有枫叶的学生都积极参与到了这次的活动中。一大早，7-9年级的Mr.R就带领着他们班的学生开始进行烹饪。虽然这次的披萨只是用了一些很简单基础的起司和意大利香肠来制作，过程也不复杂，但是学生们却十分的兴奋和开心。在制作披萨的过程中让他们运用到了早就在课堂上学过的家政学，加上他们一大早的团结辛勤劳动和积极向上的态度，这样的披萨当然是非常美味可口的啦!

   The purpose of this activity, the making and selling of pizzas, was to raise funds for the FNS to travel to Beijing to take part in the Destination Imagination program. This program is a fun, hands-on system of learning that builds students’ courage, creativity and curiosity through open-ended, problem-solving challenges. Destination Imagination focuses on:STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), fine arts and service learning. Through this event, students learn critical thinking, risk-taking and perseverance as they work collaboratively together as a team to solve academic problems.

    这次活动的目的是制作并且义卖掉这些披萨后可以筹集到让外校的孩子们可以去参加北京的“目的地遐想计划”活动。这个活动的学习可以增强学生们的勇气，创造力和好奇心并且通过一种开放式的，解决问题的有趣的挑战。目的地遐想是集中于“STEM”（包括有S-科学，T-技术，E-工程学和M-数学运算），也就是美术学和服务学。通过这次活动,学生会学习批判性思维、冒险和毅力,他们一起协同工作作为一个共同的团队来解决学术问题。

   Back in Wuhan, the Grade 4-6 and 7-9 classes, led by Mr. Ristovski, Miss Mole, Miss Bates and Miss Stevenson organized selling pizza slices near the Wanqing Square. The students were actively involved in the advertising, set-up, distribution and accounting of the entire fundraising activity. Pizza slices were sold for 8 rmb each, and combinations deals were available for 10 or 13 rmb. As a result of the students’ enthusiasm and excellent pizza, the FNS sold out of pizza slices in less than 30 minutes. Overall, it was an excellent opportunity for students to learn valuable life skills while also contributing to the growth of the Destination Imagination program.    这次带领的4-9年级的学生们万庆广场上进行披萨募捐活动是由Mr.R, Miss Mole, Miss Bates 和Miss Stevenson几个外教来进行组织的。学生们积极参与广告、设置、分布和会计的整个筹款活动。披萨片每片分别卖8元,给别套餐分别是10到13元。由于学生的热情和可口的披萨,很快FNS所有的东西在不到30分钟就全卖完了。总的来说,这是一个绝佳的机会让学生学习有价值的生活技能,同时也为目的地遐想的活动开了一个很好的头。感谢所有对FNS支持，我们希望大家都喜欢我们制作的披萨!
