The Science Fair of Maple Leaf Foreign Nationals’ School-Wuhan

  Science is everywhere, you can find science if you pay enough attention to your surroundings.

  只要我们用心发现，科学无处不在。

  At Maple Leaf Foreign Nationals School-Wuhan, science is not only a course which is taught by teachers using the textbook in class, science and inquiry is a mindset which allows students to explore based on their own interests.

  在武汉枫叶外籍人员子女学校，科学课不只是一门停留在课堂，停留在书本的学科，学生们也可以根据自己的兴趣和探索学习科学。

  On May 22^nd, Maple Leaf Foreign Nationals’ School held a campus-wide science fair, students from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 9 showed their science projects on various topics. Many parents visited and were impressed by the quality of the work.

  5月22日，武汉枫叶外籍人员子女学校举办了全校范围的科学展，从幼儿园到9年级的学生均展现了他们的科学发现和探索。家长们也都饶有兴趣的前来参观。

  Each student or group had their own different topics. For younger students, topics included: “How eggs can float in water”, “The Milky Way”, “How to Keep Balance”, and so on. Older students explored on topics such as: “DNA in Kiwi”, “How to Improve Your IQ”, “Colorful Science”, and so on. There were other creative topics such as “Survival Lipstick” and “Can Robots Create Art?” Students used their knowledge to ask a scientific inquiry question, conducted experiments and then drew conclusions based on the data.

  每名学生都有不同的主题。低年级的学生探讨了“如何让鸡蛋在水里浮起来” “银河系”“如何保持平衡”等；高年级学生则探索了“猕猴桃中的DNA”，“如何提高智商”，“彩色的科学”等。还有些有趣的主题包括“口红的持久性”“机器人可以创造艺术吗？”

  We believe that this kind of event can help students’ develop a scientific mindset full of wonder and curiosity. 

  我们坚信此类活动可以培养学生的科学思维，同时也鼓励学生们探索自己感兴趣的话题。
